Raiders move to 2-0 in preseason with 26-20 win over Vikings

Nick Mullens completed 7 of 9 passes for 94 yards and one touchdown, and the Las Vegas Raiders beat the Minnesota Vikings 26-20 in a preseason game.

Raiders give McDaniels happy homecoming, beat Jaguars 27-11

Josh Jacobs and rookie Zamir White ran well on a rain-soaked field and the Raiders routed Jacksonville 27-11 in the Hall of Fame game Thursday night, spoiling coach Doug Pederson’s first game with the Jaguars.

McDaniels mum on Kaepernick workout for Raiders

The Las Vegas Raiders concluded organized team practices with all four quarterbacks on the roster participating but the buzz surrounding the franchise was about Colin Kaepernick, who has gotten a workout with the club.

AP sources: Colin Kaepernick to work out for Raiders

Colin Kaepernick is getting his first chance to work out for an NFL team since last playing in the league in 2016 when he started kneeling during the national anthem to protest police brutality and racial inequality.

Patriots' Newton knows he has much to prove this season

Cam Newton would be the first to tell you that his inaugural season with the New England Patriots didn’t go as envisioned.

Bills earn 1st sweep of Patriots since '99 with 38-9 win

– Josh Allen passed for four touchdowns and the Buffalo Bills became the first AFC East foe to sweep the season series with the New England Patriots in two decades with a 38-9 victory on Monday night. The last division opponents to sweep the Patriots were the Jets and Dolphins in 2000. Stefon Diggs had nine catches for 145 yards and three touchdowns, setting a Bills single-season record for receiving yards. The Patriots closed to 10-9 on Newton's 9-yard TD run in the second quarter, but Nick Folk missed the extra point and the Bills pulled away from there. INJURIESBills: S Jordan Poyer was helped off field late in second quarter to be evaluated for a head injury.

Belichick not ready to move on from Newton as Patriots' QB

Cam’s our quarterback,” Belichick said when asked who would start on Dec. 20 against Miami. Newton completed 9 of 16 passes for 119 yards with an interception and ended the night with a 53.9 passer rating. Newton spoke before Belichick and said it wasn't his call on who should play QB. New England was held without an offensive TD for the second time this season and 15th since Belichick became coach in 2000. What is certain is that any momentum Newton and the Patriots had with four wins in the last five games entering Thursday night has come crashing down.

Akers runs wild, Newton benched as Rams rout Patriots 24-3

These Rams even looked good enough to contend for a chance at some actual Super Bowl redemption later this season. “We’ve got a lot of respect for them, but it’s a totally different year,” Rams coach Sean McVay said. The Patriots have been held without an offensive touchdown in multiple games this season for the first time since 2003. Tyler Higbee and Akers had long gains before Goff leaned over the line on fourth-and-goal for his career-high fourth rushing touchdown of the season. But Young opened the second quarter by picking off a poor throw created by Donald's disruption up front and taking it all the way back for the third-year linebacker's first NFL touchdown.

Wilson has 3 TDs before injury, 49ers crush Patriots 33-6

– Jeff Wilson Jr. rushed for a career-high three touchdowns and 112 yards before leaving with an ankle injury and the San Francisco 49ers dominated in a 33-6 win over the New England Patriots on Sunday. San Francisco (4-3) has followed back-to-back losses with two wins and is 3-0 on the road. New England fell to 2-4 for the first since coach Belichick’s first season in 2000, when the Patriots went 5-11. Following a Patriots punt, San Francisco was pinned inside its 15. The lead grew to 23-3 with just under a minute to go before halftime on a 16-yard run by Wilson.

Chiefs lean on D to beat Pats 26-10 in COVID-19-delayed game

Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Frank Clark (55) celebrates after sacking New England Patriots quarterback Brian Hoyer (2) during the first half of an NFL football game, Monday, Oct. 5, 2020, in Kansas City. – It's hard enough to slow down Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs under the best of circumstances. It wasn't until Tyrann Mathieu took an interception back for a touchdown in the fourth that Kansas City clinched its 26-10 victory at Arrowhead Stadium. Later on Saturday, it came out that Chiefs practice squad QB Jordan Ta'amu also had tested positive, forcing the NFL to postpone the game. Chiefs: Defensive tackle Chris Jones was out with a groin injury that sidelined him in practice last week.

AP source: Cam Newton to be Patriots starting quarterback

New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton walks to the field for an NFL football training camp practice, Friday, Aug. 21, 2020, in Foxborough, Mass. Cam Newton is officially the new starting quarterback of the New England Patriots. A person familiar with the situation said Thursday that Newton was announced as the starter during a team meeting. The move was expected after the 2015 league MVP outperformed second-year Jarrett Stidham and veteran Brian Hoyer during training camp. Theres been some things that a lot of people may have not known about me prior to (joining the Patriots), Newton said.

Belichick: Playing multiple QBs an option this season

Bill Belichick said he's open to using a two-quarterback system this season, another example of how radically different the New England Patriots could look after Tom Brady's departure. The longtime coach acknowledged he was considering the possibility, and the Patriots later used all three of their QBs during a single scrimmage series. Hoyer has the most experience in the Patriots offense. Stidham has youth and potential, having beaten out Hoyer as a rookie last season to be Bradys No. Belichick said using multiple quarterbacks could lend itself to different formations.

Newton embracing new challenge, fresh start with Patriots

In this still image from a Webex media availability hosted by the New England Patriots, quarterback Cam Newton responds to a question, Friday, Aug. 7, 2020, in Foxborough, Mass. (New England Patriots via AP)Cam Newton is the first to admit hes still getting used to his new life as a member of the New England Patriots. I think Im a person that is a self-motivator. Newton said that he has no limitations and is full go.For me, the seasons not here yet, Newton said. Ive only been kind of geared toward one particular team and in one particular city, Newton said.

Patriots hope winning still in fashion for new QB Newton

But whether Cam Newton and Bill Belichick can take the New England Patriots back to the Super Bowl is going to be more about football than fashion. The Patriots have turned to the former Panthers quarterback to replace Tom Brady, who defected to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after 19 years, six Super Bowls and three NFL MVP awards. Newton gets his fresh start in New England after nine seasons in Carolina, where his own MVP-winning career had stalled because of injuries. 1 overall pick in the 2011 draft, Newton peaked in 2015, when he was the NFL MVP after leading the Panthers to a 15-1 record and a Super Bowl appearance. If he's healthy, he gives the Patriots something even Brady didnt: a mobile QB who challenges defenses to chase him and bring him down.
