Quang Truong, 68, died after a medical emergency while in custody and was pronounced dead Sept. 22 at St. Joseph Hospital after being booked into the Harris County Jail earlier in the month on a 90‑day sentence for failing to register as a sex offender.

Karlos Butler, 49, died after collapsing inside the Harris County Joint Processing Center while in custody on a drug possession charge.

Jarrod Holt, 51, died after a medical emergency at the Galveston County Jail following his arrest on a felony parole board warrant by La Marque police, according to officials.

So far in 2025, as many as 12 inmates have died while in custody in Harris County Jail, surpassing the total number of 10 in all of 2024.
