Jeremy Porter, 47, is charged with capital murder in the shooting death of 5-year-old Zah’Layah, who was riding in her family’s car during an apparent road rage shooting in Cypress.

Officials at the Houston Area Women’s Center say last year, there were 81 domestic violence-related homicides in Houston. That doesn’t even include the rest of Harris County where last month a man was accused of brutally killing his wife in Cypress.

A man was killed after being shot several times during a fight with his wife and teenage son at their home, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
