2 Thai pro-democracy activists released on bail
Two jailed leaders of a student-led pro-democracy movement that attracted both support and controversy last year when it called for reform of Thailand’s monarchy were released Tuesday after repeated requests for bail. The Criminal Court freed Parit “Penguin” Chiwarak and singer Chaiamorn Kaewwiboonpan, who are are both charged with lese majeste, defaming the monarchy. Parit had been hospitalized after starting a hunger strike in jail.

HPD releases list of locations believed to be tied to Houston serial arson suspect

Joshua Rauch walked into Harris County’s 176th Criminal Court wearing handcuffs, an orange jumpsuit and colorful hair Monday morning. Prosecutors also asked the judge to consider having Rauch wear a GPS monitor to the list of conditions. Joshua A. Rauch charged with Arson in connection to several arson cases. Prosecutors accuse him of at least seven fires across Houston, mostly sheds and dumpsters.
