HISD has cause for celebration this week, as a district record three schools have made the state final in boys basketball, something that has never been done in the district’s long history.

Every year the Guy V. Lewis award is handed to the best boys basketball player in the Houston area and this year, Booker T. Washington’s Chris McDermott.

After an array of teams battled their way through the brackets of last week’s VYPE Holiday Invitational powered by Daspit Law -- one of the oldest high schools in the city won the title -- the Booker T. Washington Eagles a winner.

HOUSTON – Vincent Grayson’s father always told him that good things come to those who wait – “just be patient young lad and your time will come.”
