Nets lose Harden but beat Rockets, move into first in East

Harden sat out the fourth quarter against his former team with right hamstring tightness, finishing with 17 points, eight rebounds and six assists. The Rockets jumped to a 24-6 lead, with an 8-for-9 start that included makes on all five 3-point attempts. The Rockets listed the injury as a left knee effusion and it's unknown whether it will keep him out longer.
Towns scores 29 as TWolves come back to beat Rockets 107-101

Towns had 14 points during the final stretch as the Timberwolves won for the fourth time in 15 games under new coach Chris Finch. After being held to three points in the second and third quarters, Towns came back to pull Minnesota ahead. Carelessness crept in and Houston took advantage.
James Harden has triple-double in Houston return, Nets roll

Ball’s 3-point shooting lifts Hornets past Rockets 119-94

Victor Oladipo had 21 points to lead the Rockets, who shot 2 of 19 from the field and scored just seven points in the fourth quarter. Hornets coach James Borrego said he had some initial concerns about Ball's form prior to the NBA draft. AdCharlotte then held the Rockets without a field goal for more than 7 1/2 minutes to start the final quarter. Rockets coach Stephen Silas said he expects Wall and Gordon to play Tuesday night, but said Oladipo will sit out.

Mavericks use big 4th-quarter run to beat Rockets 113-100

Carlisle was impressed that his team was able to slow Harden down and limit the Rockets to just 100 points. The Mavericks led by seven points to start the fourth before Houston opened the quarter with an 8-1 run to tie it with about 10 minutes remaining. The Mavericks finally ended a scoring drought with a 3-pointer by Hardaway with less than three minutes left in the quarter. But Doncic scored the last four points of the quarter to put the Mavericks up 84-77 entering the fourth.
McCollum scores 44 to lift Trail Blazers past Rockets in OT

Lillard’s layup pushed the Blazers ahead 125-123 with 30 seconds left in overtime, but Harden made a 3 to push the Rockets ahead with 15.3 seconds left. Then with 6.3 seconds left, the ball found McCollum again and the Blazers’ guard hit another long range shot putting Portland ahead 128-126. After Wood cut the Blazers lead to 123-120 with a layup, Harden tied the game again at 123 with 38.6 seconds left. Harden responded with a basket of his own to tie it again at 113 with 38.9 seconds left.
Rockets set to go into opener with 9 available players

The Rockets play their opener in Portland on Saturday and visit Denver on Monday. Harden being ineligible to play meant the Rockets did not have the eight available players needed to start a game, so what was to have been their opener on Wednesday against Oklahoma City was postponed. Ben McLemore and Kenyon Martin Jr. are not with the Rockets on the trip and are self-isolating, the team said.

While the rest of the Rockets were preparing for the season, Harden was photographed partying in Atlanta at a rapper's birthday party and at a nightclub in Las Vegas. That would have left eight eligible players, which is the league minimum to start a game. Harden, according to the protocols, may now be ordered into quarantine and could lose more than $500,000 for each game missed because of protocol violations.
Schroder scores 30; Thunder top Rockets to even series
Eric Gordon scored 23 points and Danuel House added 21 for the Rockets, who won the first two games of the series. The Thunder shot 47.8% and the Rockets 47.7% before the break. The Rockets led 93-80 before Schroder made a 3-pointer and Houston's Austin Rivers was called for a foul away from the shot. Schroder hot a deep 3-pointer at the buzzer, and the Oklahoma City climbed within 93-92 at the end of the third. Thunder: Shot 61% in the first quarter.

Spurs keep playoff hopes alive with 123-105 win over Rockets

San Antonio has won three straight and five out of seven since arriving in the Florida bubble. A total of seven Spurs reached double figures. San Antonio built a 19-point lead in the first half. Rivers has career-high 41 as Rockets down Kings 129-112
(AP) Austin Rivers scored a career-high 41 points off the bench and the Houston Rockets used a big third quarter to pull away and cruise to a 129-112 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night. Rivers made six 3-pointers as Houston improved to 4-1 at Disney on a night the Rockets played a second straight game without Russell Westbrook, who has a bruised right quadriceps. The Kings fell to 1-5 in the bubble after being eliminated from playoff contention earlier Sunday when Portland beat the 76ers. Rivers made two free throws after that before the Kings used a 7-2 run, with 3s from Bogdan Bogdanovic and Buddy Hield, to make it 102-88 with about 8 minutes to go. Kings: Play New Orleans on Tuesday night.
McLemore Might Need to Retain Starting Role with Rockets
And Danuel House, Jr. has been great as a starter for the Rockets this year. But, Ben McLemore may usurp House's starter's job if for no other reason than he is simply better as a starter. On Thursday night in a win over the Raptors, McLemore had 28 points including a career high eight three pointers. While House deserves starters minutes, there is a good argument to be made for McLemore as a starter purely based on the numbers. House won the starting job in training camp, even besting Gordon, who had been the starter for the Rockets last year.houstonpress.com
Russel Westbrook makes history, breaks record in Rockets uniform

Westbrook took over in the 4th quarter in the 126-123 win and closed out the game with a 28-10-13 triple double. Westbrook's first triple-double as a Rocket was the 139th of his career, breaking a tie for 2nd in NBA history with Magic Johnson. His 11-12 line at the charity stripe helped Harden end up with the most points on the Rockets. With the defense closing in on Westbrook and Harden's drives, House gets left open in the corner as much as P.J.
