HOUSTON – University of Houston Football offensive guard Shadre Hurst was named to the Preseason AP All-American First-Team on Tuesday.
Hurst was named to the Lombardi Trophy and Outland Trophy Preseason Watch Lists earlier this month. Hurst reunites with head coach Willie Fritz and offensive line coach Eman Naghavi in Houston following their time together at Tulane where Hurst was an All-American and Freshman All-American while earning All-AAC honors in The American Conference.

Hurst’s 80.0 pass block grade since 2023 by PFF ranks second among active FBS linemen. Across 1,200+ passing snaps, Hurst has allowed just one sack.
In 2025, Hurst was the top graded offensive lineman in the American Athletic Conference and the sixth highest graded guard in the country by PFF. At Tulane, Hurst helped Tulane to three conference titles (2022-23, 2025) and has allowed just one sack in four seasons.
The new college football season begins for the Cougars on September 5 when they host Oregon State at TDECU Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11am.
