Texans hosting Texas A&M defensive tackle, Foster grad Tyler Onyedim for draft visit

Texas A&M defensive tackle Tyler Onyedim (Texas A&M , KPRC 2)

HOUSTON – The Texans are hosting Texas A&M defensive tackle Tyler Onyedim for a visit in advance of the NFL draft.

An Iowa State transfer, Onyedim is a Richmond native and former all-district selection at Foster High School.

Onyedim also has visits with the Carolina Panthers, Los Angeles Chargers and Arizona Cardinals.

Onyedim had 48 tackles and 2 /12 sacks with 8 1/2 tackles for losses for the Aggies.

He had 90 tackles, 13 tackle for losses and three sacks at Iowa State where he was an honorable mention All-Big 12 conference.

He was a teammate of Texans players Jayden Higgins, Jaylin Noel and Xavier Hutchinson.

He had 12 sacks as a high school senior.

Onyedim (6-foot-3 1/2, 292 pounds) has posted a 32-inch vertical leap with a 9-3 broad jump.

The Texans will host Aggies running back EJ Smith at their local pro day workout April 10. He worked out for the Dallas Cowboys at their local prospect day Thursday.

Smith is the son of Cowboys Hall of Fame running back Emmitt Smith.

A Stanford transfer, Smith averaged 7.4 yards per carry during a road win over Arkansas. He scored touchdowns against Missouri, South Carolina and Texas.

At his Pro Day, he had 10-0 broad jump, a 35 1/2 inch vertical and bench pressed 225 pounds 20 times.
