Kingston Flemings, for one, is hoping to close out his freshman season on a high note and lead the Cougars back to the Final Four, where they fell last year to Florida in the championship game.

Flemings has had a big week, becoming just the sixth player in program history—and the first freshman in UH basketball history—to earn All-American honors. He was named a second-team Sporting News All-American and, on Tuesday, was also named to the Associated Press Third Team All-American.

Flemings was a major pickup when he committed and signed with the Cougars out of San Antonio’s Brennan High School, and he hasn’t disappointed. He has started all 34 games for Houston and will carry that consistency into the NCAA Tournament.
The Cougars, 28-6, earned a No. 2 seed in the South Region and will open Thursday night in Oklahoma City against 15th-seeded Idaho, the Big Sky Conference champion.
Before leaving for Oklahoma City, senior Emanuel Sharp and Flemings spoke about their excitement as the tournament run begins.
