HOUSTON – Continuing a tradition launched during the Gary Kubiak coaching era, the Texans held their annual holiday bike giveaway.
The event created a lot of smiles and excitement for students from Hartsfield Elementary, who received 100 bikes from the Texans.

The children got their bikes, and some guidance on how to ride a bike, taught by current Texans players, including quarterback C.J. Stroud.
“It was fun,” Texans defensive end Will Anderson Jr. said. “It was awesome.”
Players and coaches greeted the kids after practice at an event attended by retired Texans players, including Andre Johnson, a Pro Football Hall of Fame wide receiver, J.J. Moses, Travis Johnson, Johnathan Joseph, Wade Smith and J.J. Moses.
“It’s one our favorite days of the year,” Texans principal owner and CEO Cal McNair said. “It’s a great time to celebrate Christmas and kids. It’s really a joy. To have the joy to give these things away, that’s really the why.”
“It started under Kubiak many years ago,” said Hannah McNair, the team’s foundation vice president. “Continuing the legacy, it’s so fun to have continuity and that just makes it a great experience. It’s a part of who we are. Cal’s parents set the tone of giving back to the community. It’s such an interactive thing to do.”

The Texans have made the Sunnyside neighborhood, where Hartsfield is based, a priority for years.
“We really try to focus on the area,” Hannah McNair said.
The Texans are 9-5 after an 0-3 start and looking for their seventh win in a row Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders at NRG Stadium.
“I thought we were a good team that was a couple of plays away,” Cal McNair said. “None of it matters unless we win on Sunday and keep the pressure on and play some really good ball and play those important games.”
“We have really great leadership,” Hannah McNair said. “We need to continue to keep a focus on where we can go and have fun.”
