INDIANAPOLIS – Texans veteran free agent wide receiver Stefon Diggs’ lawyer, Kent Schaffer, has filed a civil lawsuit on the NFL player’s behalf in Harris County court against a woman, Mia Shymeer Jones, alleging assault and extortion.

Jones, known as Mulan Hernandez on social media and a former participant in the “Basketball Wives” series, is being sued for damages up to $1 million for assault, wrongful taking of property, trespassing, intentional infliction of emotional damage, aiding and abetting and conspiracy.

“The thinking behind the lawsuit was that Stef was tired of being extorted and threatened constantly,” Schaffer told KPRC 2 in a telephone interview. “So, let’s air it out. Lets go to court. He knows he did nothing wrong. He was with someone who thought he would be their ticket. Instead of threatening us, come on, let’s go to court and have it all aired out and heard.

“He’s handing it really well. He’s keeping focused on his career. He knows what he has to do to be prepared for the season. He takes his career very seriously. He stays in the best of shape. He’s leaving it to us to deal with the distractions. Stef is doing great.”

Jones allegedly attempted to extort Diggs, a Maryland native acquired in a trade from the Buffalo Bills last year, with her friend, Brianna ‘Brii” Mack backing up her version of events.

The lawsuit claims Jones punched the NFL player multiple times. It also alleges she damaged Diggs’ watch, threw his cell phone in a toilet, destroyed his video game devices, and made threats against his football career, including a threat of filing a lawsuit accusing him of assault last fall, according to the lawsuit.

Per the lawsuit, Diggs and Jones had a “casual relationship” and the woman frequently stayed at his apartment.

Jones allegedly on June 6, per the lawsuit, interrupted him playing video games and “began to aggressively berate” him while, he believed, her to be intoxicated due to alcohol and recreational drugs.

Next step: Way down the road civil case, once they resoond and discover y starts it could be several months.

Jones allegedly slammed his video game console to the ground, damaged his $130,000 watch, punched Diggs several times, and yelled “I’m not going anywhere” as Mack witnessed the incident.

“You won’t be playing this year,” Jones told Diggs, per the civil filing, and threatened him with a gun.

Diggs’ lawsuit emphasized he attempted to stop the confrontation and didn’t make physical threats toward the women.

She alleged that she slipped on a wet kitchen floor on June 7 and didn’t lose consciousness and received a negative CT scan.

Then, Jones allegedly attempted to interest Diggs in dinner plans and allegedly told a separate doctor on June 14 that she was punched in the back of the head.

Diggs’ lawsuit said that Jones claimed she was living with Diggs and was five weeks pregnant when the player allegedly assaulted her with Mack filing an affidavit supporting her story several months after the alleged assault occurred.

“Her friend was with her that night and that morning at the apartment,” Schaffer said. “Her friend, months later, come in with a reconstituted story she’s not a witness to and she’s a part of the extortion.”

Hernandez posted a statement on social media:

“On June 7th, I was assaulted from behind by Stefon Diggs at our residence an incident that resulted in a concussion. Months later when the mediation HIS LEGAL TEAM REQUESTED did not pan out in his favor I was struck with this FABRICATED STORY publicly. This is clearly an attempt to try and get ahead of the truth that is to come. I WILL NOT BE INTIMIDATED NOR SILENCED.

“Having to relive this moment is very traumatic for me especially in my time of healing. Domestic violence is something I do not wish on anyone an everything that is done in the dark will come to the light. For all the media outlets reaching out to me in regard to this clickbait, this will be my only time addressing this publicly.”

When asked about Hernandez’s statement, Schaffer replied: ‘She’s obliged to make some kind of denial, I’m sure. We were told there were no findings of anything that could be a concussion and no internal or external signs of injury from what we were told.”

Diggs tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his knee against the Indianapolis Colts and finished the season on injured reserve.

Texans general manager Nick Caserio and coach DeMeco Ryans have both said this week that the door is open for Diggs to potentially return. A new contract would need to be negotiated, though.
