A day at the links: Texans raise more than $440,000 at 21st annual charity golf tournament

Texans charitable foundation has raised a total of more than $48 million since its launch in 2002

HOUSTON – Raising more than $440,000 for its foundation, the Texans held their 21st annual charity golf tournament on Monday morning.

“It’s a beautiful day,” Texans principal owner Cal McNair said. “It rained all weekend, now we’ve got a nice day for golf. Raising money for charity, Texans charity, which raises money for kids.”

The Texans have raised more than $48 million since launching their charitable foundation in 2002.

“This is one of our biggest fundraisers,” Texans foundation vice president Hannah McNair said. “Thanks for being here. Thanks for raising awareness for this event and the Houston community.”

Texans coach DeMeco Ryans participated along with general manager Nick Caserio, team president Greg Grissom, offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik, special teams coordinator Frank Ross, offensive line coach Chris Strausser, broadcaster Andre Ware, quarterback Davis Mills, linebacker Christian Harris, defensive tackle McTelvin Agim, former defensive tackle Travis Johnson, mascot Toro, among several others.

“No pressure on me, I’m not a big golfer,” Ryans said. “It’s definitely fun for me to be out here supporting the Houston Texans foundation and all the great work they do in the community, supporting the kids in Houston. It’s outstanding work. Just happy to get out of the office, swing the clubs a little bit and have a little fun.”
