INDIANAPOLIS – Texas’ wide receiver Xavier Worthy made history Saturday as he became the fastest player in the history of the NFL scouting combine.

Worthy blazed a scorching 4.21 official time in the 40-yard dash, topping former University of Washington wide receiver John Ross’ 4.22 time from the 2017 combine.

Worthy ran a 4.25 on his first try before beating the times of Baylor corner Kalon “Boogie” Barnes’ 4.23 in 2022 and East Carolina running back Chris Johnson’s 4.24 in 2008.

Worthy had a formal meeting with the Texans at the combine.

He finished his career for the Longhorns with 2,755 receiving yards to rank fourth in school history, eighth with 564 punt return yards. he had 1,014 receiving yards last season with five touchdowns and 12 touchdowns as a freshman.

Worthy also met formally with the Green Bay Packers, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts,

“Being a speed guy is cool but nobody looks at the route running element of my game,” Worthy said. “I feel like I run really good routes probably if not the best in the class. I feel like I run really good routes.”
