HOUSTON – Texans safeties coach Stephen Adegoke has pivoted to remain with the AFC South champions.

Adegoke was offered by University of Michigan coach Sherrone Moore the position of secondary coach and had accepted the job without finalizing a contract, according to league sources.

Instead of joining the national champion Wolverines, Adegoke will return for his second season with the Texans.

Adegoke was hired last year by coach DeMeco Ryans after a previous stint as the San Francisco 49ers defensive quality control coach.

Adegoke originally replaced, Joe Danna, who was hired by the Buffalo Bills as safeties coach.

Adegoke, previously with Michigan, Florida and Mississippi State. where he played defensive back, coached safeties Jalen Pitre, Jimmie Ward this season as the Texans won the AFC South division title and one playoff game.
