Astros ready for 2nd spring training at West Palm Beach facilities

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Another season begins for the Astros, their second at their new spring training home in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Naturally that means they’re 1-for-1 in winning the World Series after a spring at their new complex.

The players have talked about making it 2-for-2 from the moment they got their hands on the World Series trophy back in November.

Manager A.J. Hinch has stressed recently the talk about 2017 is over and it’s time to turn the page.

He has little doubt the group they have is eager and hungry to do just that and put in the work to win it all again.

“I’m so excited to get to spring training,” Hinch said recently at the Astros annual offseason media luncheon. “To get started on creating the culture in our clubhouse that will be the mark of this new team in 2018.”

Pitchers and catchers will be on the field on Wednesday morning to begin spring training with the position players joining them for the first official full squad workout on Feb. 19.

Much of the championship team returns, though it will be the first spring training with the Astros for postseason ace Justin Verlander.

Pitchers Gerrit Cole, Joe Smith and Hector Rondon were added in offseason to give the Astros what many believe could be the best pitching staff in baseball.
