Could Bill O'Brien's days be numbered as Texans head coach?

Rumors of his firing comes after devastating loss

HOUSTON – Houston Texans head coach Bill O'Brien answered questions at a news conference Monday about his job.

He wanted to make one thing clear, he has no plans on quitting as the head coach of the Texans.

"I will never quit as the head football coach of the Houston Texans, ever," he said.

Reports surfaced that his days as head coach in Houston might be numbered.

The reports come after the team hit rock bottom in a 45-7 loss to Jacksonville on Sunday. It was the Texans' biggest and worst loss of the season.

O'Brien was asked if he expects to be back as Texans head coach even though no extension talks have taken place between the two sides.

"Like I said, I will never resign as the head football coach of the Houston Texans," he said. "So that's basically where that's at. I didn't read the story, was told about it a little bit. So, I'm not sure where they come from."

The Texans are 4-10 on the season with two games remaining -- Christmas Day at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers; and New Year's Eve at the Indianapolis Colts.

When asked why the Texans have been struggling, O'Brien said he didn't have an answer and instead deflected the question back at the reporter.

After O'Brien said he didn't read the story about his job, he said reporters should find the writer who wrote the story and ask them about the rumors.

When reporters told O'Brien the information came from a "source," O'Brien said, "What is a source? I don't know where those things come from."

Unfortunately the Texans won't have a high draft pick in 2018 to show for their lousy 2017 season; the team traded it to Cleveland to move up in this year's draft and pick quarterback Deshaun Watson.
