Tom Savage or DeShaun Watson: Who will start at QB for Texans in Thursday Night Football vs Bengals?

HOUSTON – Houston coach Bill O'Brien replaced Tom Savage with rookie Deshaun Watson at halftime of the Texans' 29-7 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, leaving questions about who will start on Thursday night for a team long plagued with problems at the position.

Watson was 12 of 23 for 102 yards and had two carries for 16 yards.

Savage managed just 62 yards passing and lost two fumbles, including one which was returned for a touchdown.

As of late Monday morning, Texans head coach Bill O'Brien said he needed more time to talk to the players before announcing a starter.

"It's a decision on what's best for the team now and what's best this year," O'Brien said.

He said Savage played calmly in the game, while Watson made some plays.

O'Brien also placed blame on the offensive line and himself as the play-caller of the offense.

"It wasn't a good day. No excuses. All of us have to do better," O'Brien said.
