Owls hold media day before opener in Australia

Rice hopes to bounce back from 3-9 season

HOUSTON – The Rice Owls will open their season with the longest road trip in the nation when they kcik things off in Australia against Standford in the Sydney Cup on Augst 26th.

The team held their media day on Thursday as they continue preparations for the season, hoping to bounce back from last year's 3-9 campaign.

Head coach David Bailiff, offensive coordinator Billy Lynch, defensive coordinator Brian Stewart and special teams coordinator Darrell Patterson each met with the media addressing their respective units.

The team has yet to select it's starting quarterback with sophomores J.T. Granato, Jackson Tyner and Sam Glaesmann each vying for the job.

Linebacker Emmanuel Ellerbee anchors the defense set to run Stewart's new 4-3 front after working out of a 4-2-5 last season.
