As a first-round pick, he signed a four-year contract with an option for a fifth year, which the Texans have now picked up.

This past season was clearly Clowney’s finest, as he was selected for his first Pro Bowl and was named 2nd-team All-NFL.

His 16 tackles for loss led the Texans and ranked sixth overall in the NFL.

He helped lead the Houston defense to the being the stingiest in the NFL in yards allowed.
