Kassidy Cook denied 3-meter springboard final in first Olympics appearance

RIO DE JANEIRO – It was a heartbreaker for Woodlands native Kassidy Cook as she failed to advance in Saturday's 3-meter springboard semifinal.

China's Shi Tingmao dominated the springboard at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Center in Rio.

American Abby Johnston won a spot in the final with 324.75 points, but Cook's first Olympic games ended early.

"I was just feeling the nerves, feeling a little shaky. It obviously showed. That was kind of my downfall," Cook said.

Johnston will compete Sunday in the 3-meter springboard final.
