HOUSTON – A Children's Protective Services investigator and her supervisor visited a northeast Harris County day care Thursday, continuing a probe into the circumstances that preceded a 4-year-old boy being accidentally run over and killed in the parking lot.
On Tuesday, Anthony Craft was fatally injured in the parking of the KD Learning Center #2 on Uvalde. Sheriff's officials said day care operators allowed Craft to leave with Mabel George, 81, shortly before the accident.
Sheriff's officials said George was driving the SUV that ran over Craft.
Members of Craft's family have said they have no idea who George is or why the day care allowed the 4-year-old to leave with her.
After the CPS workers left the business Thursday, a woman was seen leaving the day care and locking the door. The woman declined to identify herself, hid her face behind a purple sweatshirt and would not answer any questions.
CPS officials confirmed to Channel 2 Investigates that the investigator and her supervisor were meeting with the day care's owner, Roslane McCoy.
Harris County sheriff's investigators said their investigation into the accident is not complete and once it is finished, the findings will be presented to a grand jury.
