HOUSTON – HBU officials have been tight lipped about the search for a football coach to lead their new program.

The search ended late last week and according to  college football sources with knowledge of the talks, HBU will go with former Kansas Jayhawks Defensive Coordinator Vic Shealy to lead the Huskies program.

HBU will join the Southland Conference and the Huskies will launch their program in 2013 or 2014.  Shealy is the first football coach in the history of Houston Baptist.

Shealy was at KU where he served as a Defensive Coordinator and other positions on the Jayhawks staff.

HBU AD Steve Moniaci has had no comment during the process.   Shealy will be introduced Monday afternoon on campus.
