Fat cat living it up in North Carolina animal shelter

PITTSBORO, N.C. – A shelter cat in North Carolina is so popular for his girth that a drawing is being held to see who can adopt him.

Dubbed by some the “flabby tabby,” the declawed, neutered male cat is a whopping 31.4 pounds and the shelter said it appears the stray had been fed.

The animal is so large, it cannot fit inside a regular kennel. Instead, he is being sheltered in a break room.

“He loves sleeping in our cabinet in the break room, and he can barely fit in there,” shelter director Alan Canady told WNCN.

The "celebrity" cat will be adopted through a drawing. To apply, people must offer vet references. The drawing will be held next Thursday at 10 a.m.
