HOUSTON – Several dog owners who believe dog treats sickened or killed their pets have filed a class-action lawsuit.

Dog owners from coast to coast are suing Nestle Purina, the maker of two chicken jerky treats that several chain stores sell.

About 1,000 dogs have been reported getting sick from the treats.

They include Waggin' Train and Canyon Creek Ranch, brands produced by Nestle Purina, and Milo's Kitchen Home-style Dog Treats, produced by the Del Monte Corporation.

Officials with the Food and Drug Administration are not releasing results of inspections from the Chinese plants that make the treats.

Despite repeated tests, the agency said it has not identified any problems with the treats.
