Woman claims her daughter was gang-raped by group of 8th-graders at HISD middle school

HOUSTON – A mother says her eighth grade daughter at Forest Brook Middle School was forced from school grounds and gang-raped by a group of her classmates.

We are not revealing the mother’s name in order to protect the identity of the victim.

The mother told KPRC her daughter never made it to dance class.

“While she was going to dance, the boys were telling her, 'No, no, dance, come with us,'” said the girl’s mother. “And she was in the front and they were in the back and they were pushing on her.”

This mother said five or six eighth grade boys forced her daughter through a hole in the school fence and sexually assaulted her.

“They were forcing her, shoving her in the hole to go in the woods and she was you know trying to fight -- like, 'get off me, leave me alone,'” the victim’s mother said. “About two of them had sexual intercourse with her and one was punching her in the head and another one was holding her down. I mean, she couldn't do anything because there was too many guys.”

The alleged incident did not end in those woods.

“One of the other boys was ... like recording this the whole time and he posted on his Instagram and it went viral around the whole school,” the mother said.

While it appears the video was taken down, the girl's family said the harm cannot be erased.

“What kind of individual would post this to social media the degrading of a female?” asked the girl’s uncle. “You took her humanity. You took her innocence. You took everything she believed in.”

Now, this mother is left asking how can this happen? And, what will the school do to make sure it will never happen again?  She said no one has given her a good answer.

“I want them to look out to have a safe environment for the kids,” the mother said. “I don't feel their school is safe. It’s bullying. It's fighting. There are a lot of things going on.”

“She’s going to be scarred for the rest of her life,” the girl’s Uncle said. “She writes stories better than Tyler Perry. That’s what she wants to become -- a writer and I don’t know how this going to factor. It tears me up.”

HISD Press Secretary Tracy Clemons released the following statement:

“HISD Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault involving several Forest Brook Middle School students near the campus. At this time, no charges have been filed. The safety of our students is always our top priority.

"School administrators and HISD police will increase frequency of their patrols on and around campus.”
