Houston police said they responded to reports of a child locked in a vehicle Saturday around 6 p.m.

When the officer arrived at a convenience store at 11601 Hempstead Road, he saw Fletcher leaving the store and found her child in the vehicle, according to police.

Authorities said the child was warmer than she should have been  and her diaper appeared to have been soiled for a long time.

Fletcher told police she was only in the store to buy milk, but according to authorities, the store did not sell milk.

A customer at the store told police Fletcher was periodically leaving and re-entering the store since 3 p.m.
