Series of fires set along bike path in The Woodlands

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – The Montgomery County Fire Marshal is looking for whoever started a dozen fires in The Woodlands over the weekend.

Firefighters from several fire departments responded to reports of smoke and fire along the bike path on Gosling Road Sunday afternoon. Neighborhoods with hundreds of homes stand feet away, but were not damaged.

Investigators determined the 12 fires were intentionally set, “probably by juveniles,” Fire Marshal Jimmy Williams told KPRC.

“Recent dry conditions could easily fuel a larger wildfire and endanger homes and property,” the Fire Marshal’s Office said in a release.

Anyone with information about the fires is asked to call the Montgomery County Fire Marshal’s Office at 936-538-8288.
