Schools Closed Due To Waller County Fire

WALLER COUNTY, Texas – Several subdivisions in Waller County remained under an evacuation order Tuesday because of a wildfire.

Officials said the northeast part of Waller County was affected, and the Remington Forest, Oak Hollow and Field Store subdivisions were evacuated.

FM 1488 to Bowler Road and to the Montgomery County line was closed.

Classes at Evelyn Turlington Elementary School and Fields Store Elementary School were canceled Tuesday due to road closures and detours in the area. All other Waller Independent School District campuses will operate at a normal schedule.

Waller County officials said they will assess the damage Tuesday morning.

Officials did not have an estimate of how many acres have burned so far.
