HOUSTON - A 7-year-old Houston boy got the surprise of a lifetime Friday afternoon.
In March, Gus Maxson was diagnosed with ependymoma, a rare cancerous brain tumor. He underwent surgery and spent the summer recovering before returning to school in the fall.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation worked with McCarthy Building Company to build Gus's dream treehouse in just three days.
"I told him he had to spend the night at a friend's house because we were painting the house and the fumes were too strong for him," said Kelly Maxson, Gus' mom.
While Gus was away, McCarthy volunteers constructed the treehouse, complete with a trapdoor, rock-climbing wall, pictures of all his favorite superheroes and even electricity.
"It was definitely a good day," Gus said.
Gus calls it his "imagination house" and says he can't wait to have fun there with all his friends.
