KATY, Texas – A gas main break near Morton Ranch Road and Bridge Lake Boulevard prompted a shelter-in-place alert and road closure Friday morning in Katy.
Harris County Emergency Services District No. 48 issued the alert at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 30, 2026. Residents and businesses within a half-mile radius of the intersection are affected.

People in the area are instructed to remain indoors, close all windows and doors, and stay sheltered until emergency officials issue an all-clear.
Morton Ranch Road is closed in both directions in the affected area. Motorists are urged to avoid the area, use alternate routes, and keep access clear for emergency personnel.
The duration of the shelter-in-place alert and road closure has not been confirmed. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
