Video shows 2 women threatening to call ICE during high school volleyball game

KPRC 2 tracked down one of the women seen in the footage, sitting beside the woman making the ICE threat.

What started as a volleyball game between Austin and Kashmere High Schools has turned into a controversy over remarks directed at students, conflicting accounts of what led to the confrontation, and questions about how school administrators responded.

Two videos circulating on social media show adults confronting students in the stands. In one, a woman uses profanity toward students. In another, a woman can be heard threatening to call U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on students’ parents.

KPRC 2 News reporter Ricky Muñoz tracked down one of the women seen in the footage, sitting beside the woman making the ICE threat. She provided a detailed explanation of what she says happened before the confrontation.

Muñoz also interviewed a mother and her teenage daughter, an Austin volleyball player, who witnessed the exchange. Their accounts challenge several of the woman’s claims.

Meanwhile, Austin High School Principal Jonathan Guzman has told families that administrators from both campuses intervened. The mother and daughter acknowledge that the principal responded, but question why the students were moved while the adults were not removed.

KPRC 2 has sent HISD five separate emails seeking answers about what action was taken and whether the district believes its administrators handled the incident appropriately.

Those specific questions have not received direct answers.

What happened before the videos were recorded?

According to the mother interviewed by KPRC 2, the atmosphere inside the gym became increasingly tense as the two schools competed.

She described cheering from both sides, including students shouting “loser” toward the opposing team. She said that kind of back-and-forth cheering was not unusual at volleyball games.

But she said the situation changed when adults began responding directly to the students.

The mother, who said she was seated about four rows above the women involved, said she heard an adult remark about the students’ nationality.

“Whenever the boys started walking that way, the lady told the boys, ‘Y’all need to go back to Mexico.’”

That remark is an eyewitness allegation; KPRC 2 has not independently established it through the viral recordings.

The mother said she was concerned that confronting the woman herself could turn the argument physical.

Her daughter, who was participating in the volleyball game, also recalled hearing the ICE threat while she was on the bench.

She said another student then asked the woman to repeat what she had said.

The confrontation was captured on video and subsequently spread across social media.
