SPRING, TX: – A 14-year-old suspect accused of fatally shooting a Westfield High School student near campus has been arrested, authorities said Wednesday.
The suspect, who isn’t being named because of his age, is also believed to be a student in Spring ISD, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

The shooting happened shortly after school dismissal Tuesday along a sidewalk near Westfield High School and the Spring ISD administration building on Ella Boulevard.
The victim was identified by his family as 15-year-old Royce Witchet. His mother, Rhonda Churchwell, remembered him as a loving and funny teenager who cared deeply for his siblings and was passionate about sports and music.
Witchet was taken to a hospital in critical condition, where he later died.
Investigators have not released details about what led to the shooting, including whether Witchet and the suspect knew each other.
