Judge sets $800K bond for Houston funeral home director accused of trying to steal $2M estate

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Harris County District Court Judge Hazel B. Jones set bond at a total of $800,000 Wednesday morning for the unlicensed Houston funeral home director accused of posing as the spouse of a dead man to steal his estate worth more than $2 million.

Unique Green, also referred to in court records as Michael Green, did not appear in court despite the high bond being set on five felony charges. Green is now scheduled to appear in Jones’ courtroom on Thursday morning.

Green was arrested by the Harris County Precinct 1 Constable’s Office on Tuesday afternoon, the agency confirmed, on charges of theft, forgery, and tampering with government records.

In addition to allegedly trying to steal the estate of Lawrence Gammon, whose family says had no connection to Green prior to them hiring Green to handle funeral arrangements, Green is also accused of submitting fraudulent documents to the Texas Funeral Service Commission to obtain a license to be a funeral director and embalmer, before running A Community Funeral Home without a license.
