Galveston DA to address uptick in domestic violence cases after three killings in 1 week

Three domestic violence-related killings were reported in Galveston County over the span of one week in late June.

GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas – Galveston County District Attorney Kenneth Cusick and the District Attorney’s Office will hold a news conference Tuesday afternoon following a recent uptick in domestic violence cases, according to a news release.

The news conference is scheduled for 2 p.m. in the Galveston County Commissioners Courtroom.

The briefing comes after three domestic violence-related killings were reported in Galveston County over the span of one week in late June.

  • June 23: Kristian McMurrin, 21, charged with murder and aggravated assault
  • June 25: Lee Sims, 73, murder
  • June 29: Isaiah Johnson, 38, murder

Officials said the cases are currently being prosecuted by the Galveston County District Attorney’s Office.
