Houston residents celebrate Juneteenth 2026 with celebration at Emancipation Park

Domino tournaments, live performances, food and family-friendly fun!

HOUSTON – With historic Juneteenth celebrations approaching, Houston is giving residents several opportunities to come together and commemorate the day marking the end of slavery in the United States.

Beginning at 1 p.m. on June 19 at Emancipation Park, a Domino Tournament will be held, with teams competing for a cash prize. Teams must pay a $50 entry fee to participate.

For those looking for a relaxed and family-friendly event, Juneteenth: The Reunion will begin at 4 p.m. at Emancipation Park.

The celebration will feature live performances from national artists spanning a variety of genres, including R&B, gospel, Southern soul, hip-hop and jazz.

Guests can also participate in a second domino tournament for bragging rights, while children can enjoy activities in the Kids Zone.

Organizers will also host an All-White Affair, encouraging attendees to dress in their best all-white attire. A variety of local food vendors will be on site throughout the event.

Park Rules and Regulations

The following items and activities are prohibited:

  • Outside food and beverages (exceptions will be made for infants and special health needs)
  • Coolers
  • Alcohol
  • Pets (service animals are permitted)
  • Glass containers
  • Shading devices larger than four feet in diameter
  • Skates, rollerblades and skateboards
  • Weapons
  • Fireworks
  • Laser pointers
  • Inappropriate behavior, language or attire
  • Littering
  • Unsolicited performances, vendors or community groups
  • Staking or driving on park grounds
