In exchange, the Browns received Pro Bowl edge rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round pick and additional draft compensation that is still being finalized.
Garrett signed a five-year, $125 million contract extension with Cleveland during the 2025 offseason. He has four years remaining on the deal.
Garrett was selected No. 1 overall by the Browns in the 2017 NFL Draft after a standout career at Texas A&M.
In nine seasons with Cleveland, Garrett cemented himself as one of the most dominant defensive players in NFL history.
He won NFL Defensive Player of the Year twice, earned five First-Team All-Pro selections and was selected to seven Pro Bowls.
In 2025, Garrett broke the NFL’s all-time single-season sack record with 23 sacks. The previous record of 22.5 sacks, held by Pro Football Hall of Famer Michael Strahan, had stood for more than two decades.
