HOUSTON – Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is drawing attention online after sharing an AI-generated image of himself wearing a San Antonio Spurs jersey and appearing to dunk a basketball over a player wearing a New York jersey.

The image depicts Abbott, who uses a wheelchair, elevated above the basket while a player, who many interpreted as Kathy Hochul, the governor of New York, in a New York uniform below him. The meme also shows an animated character of President Donald Trump laughing.
As of Monday afternoon, the post had generated more than 13,000 likes, 2,200 shares and roughly 2,800 comments on X.
Many users interpreted the image as a jab at Hochul, while others viewed the post as a playful sports-related meme tied to the ongoing NBA offseason speculation.
Abbott and Hochul have publicly fought in recent years over a variety of issues, including immigration, border security and state policies. Texas and New York leaders have frequently exchanged criticism as Abbott’s administration transported migrants from Texas border communities to several cities, including New York City.
The governor did not specifically mention Hochul in the post, and his office has not publicly commented on whether the image was intended to reference the New York governor.
The Spurs have not commented on Abbott’s post.
