Man shot and killed after argument in west Houston, police say

HOUSTON, TX – Houston police are investigating a deadly shooting that left a man in his 20s dead late Wednesday night in west Houston.

According to Lt. Pulido with the Houston Police Department, officers responded around 10:20 p.m. to a shooting call at 2323 South Kirkwood Road near Southlake Drive.

When officers arrived, they found a man unconscious and unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department crews responded to the scene and pronounced the victim dead.

Investigators say the victim and the suspect knew each other and had gotten into an argument before the shooting.

Police said the suspect remained at the scene and waited for officers to arrive before being taken into custody.

As of the latest update, the suspect had not been formally charged. Homicide detectives and the crime scene unit continued investigating the scene overnight.

The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office removed the victim’s body from the scene around 3:15 a.m.

The investigation remains ongoing.
