Houston man recovering after late night shooting at store

Police say argument at store escalated to gunfire

HOUSTON, TEXAS – A Houston man is recovering after he was shot outside a corner store late Thursday night, and investigators say they have a strong lead on the woman suspected in the shooting.

Officers responded to a shooting call around 11 p.m. Thursday at 6500 Bellfort Ave., in front of American Grocery Store. They arrived to find an adult male with a gunshot wound to the upper extremities.

Houston Fire Department crews transported the victim to a nearby hospital, where he underwent surgery. The victim was initially in critical condition but no longer has life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say an adult female suspect was present at the corner store when an argument broke out. The altercation may have turned physical before the shooting occurred.

Officers obtained surveillance video from the scene. Investigators say they have a strong identification of the suspect.

No arrests have been reported at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
