HOUSTON – Shoppers heading to Memorial City Mall this weekend will see new restrictions in place for teens, as mall management announces a temporary youth curfew beginning Saturday, May 9.
Under the policy, anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or supervising adult age 21 or older. IDs will be checked at entrances, and unaccompanied minors will not be allowed to remain inside.

The curfew will be in effect from 10 a.m. through closing on Saturday and from 11 a.m. through closing on Sunday, May 10.
Mall officials say the measure comes “out of an abundance of caution” after becoming aware of social media posts referencing a potential unauthorized gathering this weekend. Management says any activity intended to disrupt the shopping environment will not be tolerated.
“We are working closely with local authorities and have implemented additional measures to support a safe and enjoyable experience,” officials said in a statement.
The move follows a similar decision announced last week at Willowbrook Mall, where leaders also implemented a temporary youth curfew tied to concerns about large, unsupervised gatherings of teens, sometimes referred to as “teen takeovers.”
At Willowbrook, the policy applies on select Saturdays and begins at 2 p.m., requiring minors to be accompanied by an adult 21 or older. Public safety officers are stationed at entrances to check IDs, and one adult may supervise up to four minors.
Officials at both malls say the policies are temporary and not decisions made lightly, emphasizing their goal is to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for shoppers, employees, and the surrounding community.
Visitors are also being urged to follow each mall’s code of conduct during the affected days.
