Investigators said a 2008 Chrysler Pacifica was traveling southbound when the driver lost control and crossed into the northbound lanes.

The Pacifica then collided head-on with a 2008 GMC Sierra.

The driver of the Sierra, a 35-year-old man from New Caney, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Pacifica, a 61-year-old woman from Corrigan, was taken to a hospital where she later died from her injuries.

DPS officials said wet road conditions may have been a factor in the crash. Investigators believe the Pacifica may have hydroplaned, but the cause has not been confirmed.

The crash remains under investigation.
