Attendant shot while working parking lot near NRG Park as Rodeo crowds fill area

HOUSTON, Texas – A parking lot attendant was shot on Tuesday during an argument in southwest Houston near NRG Park.

Houston police said a man in his 40s was working as a parking attendant at an apartment complex in the 8400 block of Hearth, collecting money from people who were trying to park in the lot, when a man driving a black Cadillac Escalade arrived with two passengers.

Police said the parking attendant and the man got into an argument over whether the man could park in the parking lot, and the man shot the attendant in the leg.

Police said the man then fled the scene, and the attendant was transported to the hospital. He is expected to survive.

If you’re headed to the Rodeo for the last few days left, you may want to consider arriving early enough to park in an official NRG lot or try one of the off-site park and ride options.
