3 men rescued from Port of Galveston after personal boat capsizes in choppy waters

GALVESTON, Texas – Three men were rescued Monday morning after their 16-foot john boat overturned near Pier 10 at the Port of Galveston.

According to the Port of Galveston Police Department, the incident occurred in choppy waters around 8:30 a.m., involving a personal watercraft that had three people on board.

Crew members aboard a passing vessel, a tugboat called Captain Dub Allen, responded and were able to quickly pull all three men from the water.

A video from a nearby boat was captured and shared on Facebook by Grizzy’s Hood News.

Port police dispatched their marine unit to the scene. Emergency medical services transported the three men to a local hospital for evaluation.

Authorities say the incident is under investigation.

No further details about the cause of the boat capsizing have been released.
