The announcement was made Tuesday by Greg Abbott, who said the update is designed to make it easier for job seekers to apply for state positions while helping agencies recruit qualified workers more efficiently.

“As the No. 1 state for new jobs in the country, we must make finding a job easier,” Abbott said in a statement. “This modernized application process implemented by the Texas Workforce Commission will ensure that Texans have every opportunity to find a good, high-paying job.”

The new system allows applicants to apply for state jobs through a two-step process. Instead of completing lengthy forms, users can upload a resume and answer a short questionnaire to submit an application.

Officials say the update aligns the state’s hiring process more closely with common private-sector practices and is intended to reduce time and barriers for applicants.

Joe Esparza, chairman of the Texas Workforce Commission, said the new process should help connect more Texans with public-sector employment opportunities.

“The streamlined State of Texas Application offers Texans a direct link to rewarding careers and connects the state government to a wider pool of talent,” Esparza said.

State officials also said the updated application is part of a broader push to reduce regulatory complexity in government operations. The effort is being coordinated with the Texas Regulatory Efficiency Office, which focuses on cutting red tape and improving government efficiency.
