A large law enforcement presence gathered in southeast Houston Monday as officers worked an active scene involving a barricaded suspect wanted for sexual assault.
A short time later, Houston Police Department reported that there was an officer involved shooting stemming from the incident. No officers were injured in the shooting.

Authorities confirmed the situation is unfolding in the 6000 block of Bellfort Street, where multiple agencies responded as part of an operation to serve a warrant.
According to officials, the situation began when the Texas Attorney General’s Office attempted to serve a warrant connected to a sexual assault investigation.
During the attempt, the suspect barricaded themselves inside a location, prompting additional law enforcement assistance.
HPD then took a tactical lead on the scene, with SWAT units deployed to assist. HPD said they were first alerted at around 10:30 a.m.
Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 7 was also involved in the response.
Authorities have not released details about the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the alleged sexual assault.
Officials are asking residents to avoid the area while the situation remains active. Further updates are expected as law enforcement continues working to resolve the incident.
