Trump praised Noem’s service but noted she will transition to a newly created position called “Envoy for The Shield of the Americas,” which he described as leading “our new Security Initiative in the Western Hemisphere.”
NBC News has also reported that Noem’s relationship with Trump had been inconsistent during her tenure, and comments she made earlier this week regarding a $200 million advertising campaign and whether Trump had approved it reportedly contributed to his decision.
