Short chase ends in crash on Kuykendahl Road; suspect taken into custody

A man was taken into custody early Friday morning after a reported vehicle break-in led to a short pursuit and crash in northwest Houston, according to authorities.

According to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office, a 911 call came in around 4 a.m. reporting a man possibly breaking into vehicles near Kuykendahl Road and Woerner.

Deputies arrived in the area and located a vehicle matching the description provided by the caller. Officials said deputies also observed traffic violations on the vehicle and attempted a traffic stop.

“A short pursuit ensued down Kuykendahl Road, and the vehicle crashed out,” said Justin Wilkerson, a lieutenant with Precinct 4.

The driver was taken into custody at the scene and is expected to be booked into the Harris County Jail. Deputies said the man did not appear seriously injured and was evaluated as a precaution.

Wilkerson said it’s still unclear whether the suspect was involved in other vehicle break-ins in the area.

No deputies were injured during the incident.
