Vehicle hits juvenile at crosswalk in northwest Harris County

A juvenile was flown to a hospital after he was struck by a vehicle Friday morning while cross traffic in northwest Harris County, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash was reported at 7:28 a.m. in the 7700 block of N. Eldridge Parkway.

Deputies said a Kia Sportage was traveling southbound in the 7700 block of N Eldridge Parkway, in the second lane, and had a green light.

At the same time, the juvenile was crossing all lanes of traffic in the 13100 block of Chimney Sweep Drive from east to west, in a crosswalk while traffic still had a greenlight, and the right of way, deputies said.

According to HCSO, the juvenile failed to yield the right of way to a motor vehicle while crossing the roadway and was struck by the Kia.

He was transported by Life Flight to Memorial Hermann Downtown with minor injuries, deputies said.
