Large fire reported at house in Fifth Ward

Multiple firetrucks with Houston Fire Department have reportedly responded to a large fire at a home in the Fifth Ward area.

The fire was reported by a concerned caller at around 11:10 a.m. Monday morning in the 2900 block of Jewel Street at Brackenridge Street.

The caller, who said her name was Brittany, reported seeing HFD firetrucks from Ladders 12, 19, and 39. Brittany also shared images and videos from the scene.

Brittany also reported seeing glass on the ground near the home and large flames coming from the front door as first responders approached.

First responders were scene rolling out a stretcher in the area, but it is unclear whether or not anyone was injured in the fire.

Firefighters were captured using hoses to try and contain the flames. As of this writing, the blaze appears to be largely under control.

The cause of the fire remains unclear at this time.
