HOUSTON – Walgreens will be laying off 159 employees as part of the closure of its Houston Distribution Center, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act notice.
The notice says the layoffs will begin on or around June 1.
In a statement, Walgreens confirmed they have made the decision to close its Houston Distribution Center located at 1805 Greens Road.
The company shared they plan to streamline service and deliveries from their Waxahachie Distribution Center.
“We have made the difficult decision to close our Houston Distribution Center. We sincerely thank the team members at that location for their dedication and contributions. By streamlining service and deliveries from a single source—the Waxahachie Distribution Center—we believe we can better serve our customers while reducing workload for our store teams," a Walgreens spokesperson told KPRC 2.
